It's important to start with good ingredients, but no matter how good, a meaningful and impactful image can help to get a proposal noticed and set it apart from others.  The final product should not only get the point across, but also should align directly with the language used in the written portion of your proposal. Getting an early start by 'sketching out' the direction can save lots of time.
